Why does my female friend always wants to pretend I pay for her?

I'm g*y, and my best friend is a girl. He often go to restaurants, places, and clubs together.

Every time we go to the club, she asks me to pay for her. She asks me to pay the entrance, and the drinks. She always pays me back as soon as we get to the car.

In the restaurant is the same thing. She wants me to pay the check, but pays me her part as soon as we get to the car.

It seems like she's embarassed that strangers see that she pays for herself.

Why is this?

  1. I'm thinking she wants it to look like you are dating (maybe more for your sake than hers?). At any rate, you are friends and nothing more and I don't think it's very considerate of her to use you as a "credit card". I would confront her about it if it is bothering you.

  2. Perhaps it makes her feel like less of a woman when she has to pay for herself in front of people.  Sometimes the illusion of our lives becomes more important to us than what is actually going on in our lives.

  3. You'll have to ask her that, no one here knows her or can read her mind.  Any answer you get here, is someone guessing.  She's your friend, you should be able to talk to a friend about something like this.

  4. I think she's just an old-fashioned girl. And frankly, you don't have a problem with the situation, and she is your best friend, and she does reimburse you immediately -- so there's really not much of an issue.

We often make unusual accommodations for our quirky friends.

  5. Maybe she wants it to look like you two go out and ur paying for her becuz shes ur girlfriend? I could be wrong but it's an assumption becuz everyone at restaurants or clubs won't kno that ur g*y...I dont kno thats all i can think of...

  6. Since I am not the one doing this I can only guess at why she is.  I would think that she doesn't want others to think that you guys are dating and that she has to pay for herself.  She probably thinks that you two look like a couple and she is probably worried about what others would think if they saw her paying instead of her boyfriend paying for her.  Unfortunately in this day and age people put a lot of thought into what other people might be thinking of them.  If she is your best friend then you should be able to bring this up to her and ask her what her deal is. And if your not able to ask her or if she can't tell you why, then I would rethink your friendship.
