  1. she just wants you to scratch right above her tail. ;p they love it

  2. There are a mixture of reasons a cat does this.  One reason is presenting her rump and inviting you to sniff her anal glands (to check her personal identification scent).  It's bonding behaviour.  Cats can be very insistent about this - some will pretty much push their backsides into your face while you're sitting down.

Another reason is to raise her tail even further as a sign of friendliness.  Having the tail straight up is a sign of friendliness, but some cats try to take it even further - either quivering the tail or their back legs end up on tiptoe.  Since you say she's very loving and friendly, this could be the reason.

A third reason mostly happens when your petting the cat.  The front end goes into a crouch and the back end gets raised.  This is the same position a female adopts for mating.  Even spayed cats (and some males) will do this, especially if you scratch around the back of the neck.   It can be seen as a sign of affection towards the person doing the petting.  The British cat behaviourist even called his cat Flirty-Bottom because she did this so often (and she was spayed).

Is your husband the pone who gives her food and treats?  She could be making sure she stays in his good books.  Some cats will bond more closely or more quickly with one person.  The usual solution (if you feel left out) is for you to be the one who sets down the food and gives any treats.

Mostly it's just another sign of being happy and affectionate towards you so take it as a compliment :)

  3. The cats scent glands are on several parts of the body, including the back end.  She is simply wanting to run her scent on her owner and mark him as hers....you can't smell it, but other animals do.  That's why cats rub their heads all over things.  Ever notice how if you are around another animal that rubbed against you, your pets can't seem to get enough of the smell?  Thats why :)
