i just bought a 2000 impala and i noticed when the car is in motion the fuel gauge appears to be working normally, but when i slow down or stop it bounces between the 1/2 tank line and the full line. sometimes it will bounce, sometimes it wont. it seems like the longer i stay still with the car running the more likely the needle will end up bouncing around. any help you give would be very much appreciated.

  1. sounds like a bad sending unit or the gage on the dash.

  2. i have no idea,,, go back to the place where you bought it and ask! you have every right to do so.

  3. It sounds to me like a bad sending unit in the tank. Considering the age of the car, I would ask Chevy if there is a TSB on this.
