Question:

Why does my full name show when I responded to a question asked in my group?

I belong to a couple of groups on Yahoo. I was reading the members' comments and saw someone had asked a question to which I had an answer. I posted the answer, and when I looked later, it listed my full name next to it. I don't remember listing my full name anyplace where it would be visible to the general membership - of Yahoo, or either of the groups I belong to, nor can I find it anywhere. Can someone give me an idea of where else to look, or to whom I can write, to have it removed, or changed to a nickname, or just my email address?

  1. To change the settings on how it comes thru to Yahoo Groups you need to change it thru your Yahoo Mail program (if you are using Yahoo Mail-there may be something similar for other e-mail programs) by going to "Mail Options" and then click on "General Preferences".  The information on how your name shows up will be at the top of the page.  There you can change it to initials, etc.

Then click "Save" and the new changes will be in place.

  2. if it shows on the group homepage, you need to edit out nickname and or real name on your profile and maybe on your account as well. when it's on your profile, it'll show on the groups homepage as well
