Why does my gateway laptop have a red light for charging?

Normally it has a pink light. If i take out the charger it says it has critical battery and I have to leave it plugged in. The warranty ran out last month and this was the first time this happened. Please help!

  1. Are you sure you are charging it fully? when its red it means its charging
