Why does my hamster appear to "bite" itself occasionally?

???... it's not a lot..but I notice it... sometimes...

  1. its cleaning itself nothing wrong with it


  2. Well if your hamster does it a lot, he/she could have ticks and it is bothering it. I suggest checking their fur for ticks or buying medications. Yes, small animals can get ticks too.

  3. it might be itching a little bit but if there isnt any redness on his skin or scratch or bite marks he is probably just grooming himself

  4. If it starts to do it more it might have bugs or something. But if it's only once in awhile it's probably just grooming itself.

  5. Maybe your hamster has bugs on it or a skin irritation. Take it to the vet or something. Look in their fur for bugs or at their skin for irritation.

  6. it is probably just cleaning itself. it may be get something that is stuck in its fur out or a knot.  my dog sometimes does that when a knot is in his fur.  he prob isnt biting himelf.  good luck!

  7. itchy....grooming

    just make sure it doesn't break the skin or do in viciously to itself, if that happens take it to the vet
