because hamsters are nocturnal. i bet u already know this: they sleep during the day and are awake during the night. they only get up during the day to get food and water. so they are most active at night and if the wheel is squeaky, and u are trying to go to bed it might keep u up all night. just listening to the squeakyness.

I know 500 other poeple already said this, but they're nocternal.  They're awake at night, sleep during the day.  So, that is when they're most active!
