  1. You have to train him. Is there a spot in the cage the hammie usually "goes" in? That's where you need to put the potty.

I got my hammie a sand bath - remember -chinchilla SAND not dust - and at first he used it to clean himself, btu now he uses it as a potty. It works for me though lol, see if your hammie does that, and if he does maybe you can put the actual potty back in the same place and he'll catch on.

  2. well i think a litterbox is a pointless money spend and hamsters chew on just about everything but yea it looks like he wants a dust bath

  3. I have a hamster too and was able to litter train him in just 4 days. Here's what I did: I put food in one corner of the cage, his den in another, his wheel in the thrid, and then left the other one empty. The next day I saw that he used the empty corner to use the bathroom, so I put the soiled litter inside of the box. The next day he went around the box, but I stayed persistant and kept putting the soiled litter into the box. The next day I saw that he was using the litter box, and he has been using it ever since

  4. Hamsters don't really need to use litter boxes. It is possible to litter train them but it's not really worth it.

Yeah, he may be looking for a dust bath. You can go ahead and buy chinchilla sand (NOT dust) and give it to him. He will enjoy it.

  5. the first week when i got my hamster the pee and poo every where. the second week till now they only pee in one corner and poo along one side so there no need to buy litter box

  6. It sounds impossible, but my hamster is potty-trained.  It is very simple to potty-train hamsters, since they are creatures of habit. They usually pick one corner of their cage in which they urinate. All you have to do is find that corner and follow these steps. Although, some hamster just pee anywhere!

    - Find a glass or plastic jar that is big enough for your hamster to turn around in. Take the lid off. There are also hamster potties you can buy but a jar works just as well!

    - Turn the jar on its side and place it in the corner you hamster pees in.

    - Place some dry droppings and wet littler in the jar to encourage your hamster.

    - The next day, look inside the potty. You might find that your hamster is actually using it!

An advantage of potty-training your hamster is that the smell will be almost (almost-not totally) eliminated if you clean out the potty everyday or so.

Go on, make your hamster a potty today!
