  1. Oh my hamster does that they just look around to see if there is anything there they are curious creatures, especially when some one is watching them they look around to see if your going to let them out or something.

  2. Its perfectly fine mine does that EVERY time he goes on the wheel he either smells something or hears something.(keeping aware of his surroundings) hamsters always do this.my hamsters goes off the wheel sometimes and stands up and smells and listens its perfectly fine!

  3. haha my hamster does that to! hes just curious!

  4. She has probably heard something. She's just keeping aware of her surroundings.

  5. hes curious

  6. Lol! I find it funny my hamster does that alot I think she's just curius to see what I'm doing.

  7. my hamster does the same thing all the time. it probobly heard something juss to keep aware of its surroundings. dont worry. ^-^

    best of luck!!

  8. She is probably just staying alert. Hamsters are one of the timid types of animals. They are fairly small, and can't do very much to protect themselves other than biting.

She's looking out for danger probably! If not, then she just wants to be aware of what is going on (if she hears noises and such).

By the way, you called it a male in the question, and a female in the details....

  9. maybe he wants to see if any ones there

  10. Your hammy is curious about it's surroundings. This is normal. Obviously hammies aren't used to having humans in their natural habitat, so all of the sounds you and your family make are strange to him/her. My gerbils do the exact same thing. You have to remember that hammies and gerbils have an acute sense of hearing. Don't worry.

    Good luck! : )
