Why does my handbag set off shop alarms when I first enter the shop but not when I leave with my shopping?

I walked into Asda and I set off the alarms I have done my shopping and I know leave Asda with my shopping and my handbag and the alarms DO NOT set off, Why is this happening??

you could have a sqaure electronic label on it, they set of alarms

I use to work at target and this happened all the time. it is either in your purse or a billfold/wallet you have in there. there is going to be some type of tag, you're gonna want to cut that off because inside there is a sensor. it also comes in the form of a piece of cardboard in a billfold or a sticker in either (which is usually square and may look metallic on the sticky side.

has it got a magnetic clip/catch on it? that's what it was with mine .as long as it dose it on the way in and not out your OK.

This has happened you me before with a purse I had years ago.  I think there is some kind of sensor in the purse that wasn't removed.  I never did figure it out.  It was embarrasing though.
