Why does my hermit crab bury its self in the sand?

  1. he's just doing what crabs do he's hiding out =] sweet little buggers  


  2. It's either stressed out because you just got it, or it is about to molt. Either way, it should be left alone. It knows what it is doing.

  3. When I had one it would go underneath the sand to molt because when it first emerges its new skin is not as hardened and so it's more vulnerable, this way they are protected until they harden up a bit

  4. thats what crabs do. Just like snakes go into hide boxes, crabs burrow. Don't worry its perfectly normal
