I have noticed an almost mildewy rotten egg smell in my house. I looked all over and cannot find the location of the smell. No dirty socks, dog... anything, wet towel, nothing! I thought natural gas leak but it's the middle of July I'm not using my heater. Stove is electric, only other gas applicance is the water heater, and I don't smell anything in that room. I called the gas company just in case (better safe than sorry) but would else could it be???

  1. It could be a sulfur leak, because sulfur is in some underground pipes, ill give an example, when i went to my cousin's house in FL after we came back from the beach, we would wash the sand and stuff from the hoses outside they're house and they smelt horrible, so i asked them about the smell and they told me that the water pipes were in sulfur so it... i dont know how to say this, bled through the pipes into the water, so its probably sulfur.

  2. We have this problem often.  If you have well water what you can smell is Hydogen Sulphate.   . .  If you  have a water softener tank you would need to put an iron solution in it.  You can buy this stuff from Lowes or Home depot.  I cannot remember the exact name and I threw the bottle away two days ago.  I just know it when I see it on the shelf.  If you ask the guy in Lowes he will know.
