Why does my ice hockey league require that everyone on all teams use a black helmet?

If you have a white helmet, they make you get a black one. What is the rationale?

Black helmets are produced in the largest numbers and your league wants uniformity among helmets.  If they asked for yellow ones, you'd have a much harder time getting one.

Because they want you to look like a team. My travel team just went through that last season as well. We joined a new rink as home base. We all needed new black, helmets, gloves and pants. My coach even wanted white laces. They want you to look like a true team that is then main reason.
