Why does my ice maker make a whistling noise when it cycles.?

Kenmore refrig with freezer on top and ice maker inside. Age of refrigerator is 16 years. I have tried changing out the filter for the ice maker with no luck.

  1. Sounds like a restriction in the water line causing the whistle while the tray is filling (had a dishwasher that did that).  Maybe you can clean out the water line after the filter.  If the end of the line can be removed at the icemaker, take it out and soak it in vinegar overnight to remove the calcium buildup.
