  1. Anywhere tv, radio, people. My friends grey picked up cursing at her dad from her mom.

  2. Ringnecks copy sounds they hear in their environment. My dads does a funny noise that we think is a mobile phone ring. It also talks, and we didn't teach it . Must have been while it was in the shop.

  3. IRN's (Indian RingNecks) have an incredible ability to mimic sound.

They are incredibly intelligent animals/birds and given the opportunity can have a large repertoire.  Birds do not have vocal chords. Vocalization is by means of a syrinx, not a larynx as in mammals.

They are very inquisitive and will mimic their environment which is why it is important to make sure the bird is not taught things you wouldn't or shouldn't say in public.  They have a life span of approximately twenty years given that they are allowed to exercise and given proper nutrition.  There is an incredible amount of information available on the web regarding IRN's.  They are little clowns and learn very fast -  They are more then a pretty bird - take the time to teach and you will be rewarded for many years to come. Put "Indian Ringneck" in your search engine and don't limit yourself by teaching one word or trick at a time -  They are very social birds and interacting with you will enhance their life as well.  Don't be afraid to feed fresh food - there are certain food no-no's.  Fresh water everyday + if they bath in their water, change it more often.  Feeding pellets, I prefer Harrison's, is also good for them, just remember to always provide fresh, clean water-
