Why does my internet lag sometimes?

I don't like often, But why does it randomly lag sometimes? I'm on Shaw Comunnications High Speed. It feels like I'm using Lite Speed right now. I also have a WRT54G Lynksys Router sharing with 2 computers. My sisters computer is off right now.

There could be a variety of reasons why your internet would lag on occasion. It could be a program on your computer causing your connection to slow, or it could be the time of day when many people in your area sharing your node get on the internet at the same time, causing the internet connection to lag. Another reason could be your Linksys router. Next time you experience a lag in internet connection, go ahead and take the power cords out of the back of your modem AND your router. Wait for about 15 seconds. Plug the power cord in the back of your modem FIRST. Wait for the modem to show it's connected by showing the appropriate light pattern, THEN plug your router back in and see if there's any difference in your internet speed. If there is still no difference, and you want further troubleshooting, go ahead and give your internet providor a call so you guys can troubleshoot to pin point the cause of your lag.
