Question:

Why does my internet randomly cut off music and videos playing from the web?

You're probably a little confused on what I mean by this question. Whenever I'm on Myspace or Youtube, playing music or watching a video, all of a sudden it will cut off and not play. I try to start from the beginning again, but nothing plays. It will randomly do this and then it randomly starts playing again.

Do you know of any reason on why it's doing this?

  1. It's most likely buffering, ie: waiting for the content to download. If this is the case it will continue to play when it has a bit more downloaded/ This can often happen if you're on a shared connection or you're downloading or uploading something else at the same time.

EDIT: To check if this is the case, find a large video on youtube. As soon as it starts, pause it. You should see a faded red line starting to fill the progress bar - this shows how much of the clip has transferred to your computer. When you start playing, a brighter red line starts to fill the progress bar. When the faded line can't keep up with the brighter line, that's when the video will stop.

  2. you may not have enough memory to run all the processes needed for these programs. try using mozilla firefox instead of internet explorer also.
