Why does my internet stop working after a short while?

Everytime I turn my computer on, after a few hours it stops working, and I have to restart the computer. Is it because of an older windows security update, or something else? Because I have all my network cables/plugs in, but still, there's something wrong. HELP!

if you running an older version of windows not much can help.  If you running XP upgrade your RAM.
