Why does my ipod touch say that there is 'other' memory?

When i go to itunes, it says that there is 377.8 megabytes of 'other' memory. I've watched some videos on the internet with it; does it download videos or something? I do have some applications.

Applications, firmware, contacts, Word files ect. all take up space on your iPod. Because iTunes does not show these as different items, it groups them under "Other".
