I'm pregnant with her first granddaughter. She's always saying things about the baby being half j*p/aa not in a totally racist way but just little things that get on my nerves. Like dont name her "LaToya". I couldn't really tell if that was a joke. How can we get along better. Sometimes I love the woman then other times.................! I need advice. Maybe she nags me about certain things for the health of the baby but idk

  1. I feel your pain, my mother in law is from Taiwan (still carries the communist values).  She's always preaching to me about lucky this and lucky that, "don't scratch baby's nose, nose mean good wealth, get rid of your cats!!"  Drives me friggin nuts.  I would actually be pretty offended with the 'don't name her LaToya' thing, even tho I'm white, I can see how that would be one of those "jaw drop moments".  The best advice I can give is to just ignore her when she says those things, it's your baby and half black/ half asian kids are absolutely BEAUTIFUL, so don't let her get you down.  My daughter is 3/4 white and 1/4 asian and ppl always stop us and say she looks like a mini Jessica Alba lol.

  2. Tell that's not how it runs in my family pretending to like someone and then automatically hate them. Talk to her and tell her how you feel. It does not matter what the baby looks like it only matters that it is my daughter and her granddaughter! Tell her Sister!

  3. It's your husbands mother, so i think you should get him to talk to her about it.

Have you ever done anything for her to dislike you ?

Does your parents not approve of her son ?

Personally, i think she sounds racist. Although, Latoya is an awful name. . .

  4. LIKE ALL NEW GRANDMAWS THEY NO EVERYTHING,THE BEST WAY I DEALT WITH MINE WAS LET IT GO THREW ONE EAR N OUT THE OTHER,,PEACE

  5. First of  congrats! With the names maybe she just don't want the child getting name some crazy/ghetto name... I've heard some that left me flabbergasted, like what were the parents thinking when they came up with that? I'm Black by the way, just in case. She's probably just nagging because she's concerned about the health of the baby and being it's her first granddaughter, that gives her more than enough reason to nag. Plus, mother in law have to give you a little hard time in the beginning in order for them to like and appreciate you. Just don't ever get out of line with her if you want to be on her good side.

  6. Well Shes really exsited 4 her grandchild to come out and thaat makle any one happy  she want her to be perfect so u have to understand and try combining japinese and black er something Like my children are Miri and Ami Akiko
