Question:

Why does my jaw click when I either chew food or move it in any direction?

Whether I move it up & down, side to side or in & out it clicks. On top of that when I chew food the clicking becomes louder and harder.

Also, it could be completely unrelated but I noticed that I yawn a lot more than average and feel tired (not physically) all day regardless of plenty of sleep. Could this be a result of the problem I have with my jaw?

Thanks for any help!

  1. This could be TMJ--a progressive problem with the joints in your jaw.  Talk to your dentist about this next appointment.  If you're stressed you may be tightening your jaw (and not realize it) even when sleeping.  There's a notch about 1 inch in front of your ear (feels like a 'hole' just under your cheekbone); try massaging that regularly and taking other steps to relieve stress in your jaw.  Your being tired all the time suggests stress.

  2. My jaw used to click all the time, it was very annoying and sometimes it would even pop and hurt really bad.

Last October though, I got my 4 wisdom teeth removed and got braces and the problem was corrected.

Do you chew gum a lot? I think that may have been part of them problem for me.

    Hope this helps a little??
