  1. sounds like it may have root rot.  I have over 17 King palms in my yard and had my fair share of having the whole white and dry thing happen to some and then dying.  I was told the whole white thing is a fungus that is caused by over watering (root rot).  I learned that King palms don't need a lot of water and like quick draining soils. To prevent from losing anymore palms I went to Home Depot and bought the Miracle Grow soil for palms and mixed it into my regular soil and re-planted all of them and I only have my sprinklers set for 2 min. a day on them.  Now all 17 are green and healthy looking!  Also, when planting them make sure you really pack the soil around the roots leaving no air pockets!  This is also a killer!
