she doesnt have fleas. She just came back from the vet. She's our newfirst kitty and we are still learning. She's up to date on her revolution. Im sure its something normal. Im just curious thats all. She does it everytime she baths and not at all in between. I love our new kitty by the way! She is AWESOME! if anything was ever missing in our family, our little Sarafina Vicotria was definitely it!

  1. I've had at least 30 cats and kittens during my life.  I believe that when cats or kittens are grooming, they l**k their fur and when they find a spot that is especially dirty, they apply a deep cleansing.  They do this by what appears to be biting themselves in one spot.  What they are actually doing is spitting into the fur through their teeth in an effort to get salvia to the skin.  They then continue to groom by l*****g.  They will also do this action when they have an itch or are bitten by a flea.  Flea meds are a must.  Not from the grocery store!!!  Get used to the bite/spit action though, it's just there way of saturating their water-repellant fur.

  2. i think pretty much all cats do that.  my cats do. don't worry thats normal for a cat to bathe like that. she probably is just itching or something.

  3. my kitten does that too  i think its just to clean herself better

  4. Every cat does it... Sometimes they get knots that hurt them so they bite em and pull them to untangle their fur.

  5. maybe because she has fleas or ticks....or maybe thats how she cleans. just guessing cause my dog does that too...

  6. itchy from chemicals in the water maybe?

  7. It's her way of scrubbing.  Sometimes the tongue can't get all the dirt and debris that's embedded deeply in the hair, so she has to use her teeth to loosen it.

  8. maybe to dry her self or something

  9. to like scratch the itchy part

  10. she doesnt recognise the new smell and thinks shes another animal

  11. Maybe it is because when she was bathing, she found that she had a knot in her fur so she tried to bite it to untangle it. Or maybe she had a very deep itch in her skin. IDK these are just suggestions. So try brushing her fur every morning and night! See if that helps!

  12. my cats do that too.... its to get the clumped up fur off of them!!

it helps them bathe and it gets the mulch and stuff that gets caught in their fur off...

  13. thats normal most cats do that when they bathe both of mine did that too

  14. poor kitty she probably has fleas =( or a knot in her fur brush her good and take her to the vet

  15. She might have fleas or a severe OCD problem.

If it consists as she is getting older, she has a problem, if she starts to do it besides bathing or If she Bleeds, You Need to take her to the vet as soon as possible to get her medicine.  good Luck with your cat!

  16. If she is in a dirty home she hates being dirty. it's ok if she digs into her paws

  17. maybe she has dry skin and is trying to scratch it

  18. because they dont have thumbs so they cant hold a comb.

she is grooming, they will do that when they hit a snarl, a glop of dirt, fleas, etc. it is nothing, just grooming.

wait until you see her spread her toes out wide, grab the fur in bewteen the toes and pull.

  19. They do that to pull out loose hair and debris from their fur. They also use their teeth to remove old sheathing from their claws. Nothing to be concerned about.
