So i got a kitten two days ago thats 14 weeks old, anyways hes a pretty good cat and i enjoy having him around but the only thing that gets annoying is the fact that he meows for attention 24/7 and always wants someone to hold him.

I understand that hes a kitten and needs attention but the type that that he wants is all day nonstop even during sleeping time he wants to be held.

My question is, was he taken away from his mom to soon? The person that owned him got rid of the mother and her house was super dirty. I got him a bunch of cat toys to play with but he gets bored fast and wants me to hold him again and i'm confused on what to do, since i can't spend my entire day holding him

  1. Your kitten was not taken away from his mom too soon, as they generally are adopted at 12 weeks old. If he meows all the time he could have a bladder problem, which is fatal, so take him to a vet. If nothing is wrong, he needs attention. Tire him out with at least three 10 minute sessions of play every day to keep him feeling happy and loved. If you work during the day, get him some new toys to play with and keep him occupied, but the best thing for him would be a playmate. Another cat or even a puppy would be perfect for him.

  2. i think it's just his personality.my cat gets like that and has been since i brought him homw when he was 12 weeks. but he has the puppy to play with now and is still kinda needy at night but much better

all i have to do is walk outside sometimes and he is freaking out in the window. you his daddy now and he loves you.

  3. You have a needy boy cat. Male cats, I have found are much more needy and this one is too. He will need a lot of attention, so get used to it. He won't stop, he will win and there is nothing you can do about it. He will also claim most of your bed and your attention.

  4. he wants attention. do you leave the hose a lot?

  5. i think it just may be his personality

my ragdoll is a big caller... if i am outside she is constantly calling, which is very frustrating, but very hard to change, and even when i am inside..

i was told to get her a companion cat (which i am waiting for from my breeder) ... (ps.. i wanted a second one so they were not alone anyway)

also some breeds are well known for it.. like simease. so he might have a little of that somewhere in him if he is a domestic.

  6. kittens meow if they want attention

some cats meow when they are happy

  7. if the kitten misses his mother put a clock in his bed when he goes to sleep, the ticking sounds like their mothers heart beat which makes them more comfortable and able to sleep better.
