My new kitten is 4 months old, and she is terrible. Everyday the trash gets knocked over, she steals food off my plate when i'm not looking, she beats up my other 2 cats, attacks my feet all the time, and claws and scratches my face when i am trying to sleep. my other two cats never behaved this way. why does she act like this, and what can i do to improve her behavior?

  1. All kittens misbehave but one day she will outgrow it...my cat was naughty but not to that extent now hw calmed down a bit

  2. spank him!

    he needs to learn lmfao

  3. She's just a normal active kitten, she will eventually grow out of it.

  4. oh its nothin 2 worry about!

its just a way that she wants to know about things and is curious about everything and loves having fun and jumping around and stuf!

my frends kitten does that aswell!

just enjoy this moment because youll neva kno shell turn into an old cat and youll wonder when she ever ran round!

    hope i helped!

  5. This is how my kitten was.

She's just very curious with everything.

She will calm down in a couple months.

    Don't worry :)

Enjoy her little kitten years !

  6. if she is clawing you feet and face get her declawed also if she is stealing food from you plate make shur there is always food in her bowl.and if she is betting up the other cats then play with her more she isn't betting the up she is trying to play

  7. Haha...your kitten is normal, trust me. This is normal kitten behavior. I also have a 4-month old kitten, and she acts this way too. You should be concerned if she doesn't act that way! Absolutely do NOT listen to the poster that is telling you to "spray her in the face" with a squirt bottle. You will make an enemy this way. If you spray her, it needs to be on the bottom only, and only do it if you're sure that she won't know it's you. I know that sounds pretty impossible, but seriously, I have read it in cat books and online not to do it.

You can go ahead and get her spayed. This might help some.

    Good luck!

  8. She is just being a kitten. Try feeding her 4 times a day. she sounds hungry and if there are other cats in the house she may not be getting enough to eat, She is beating up on the ither cats because she is showing she is dominat. She will find her place in the pecking order and will calm down as she grows up. remember all cats are not the same and she is still young.

  9. You may not have to do anything if by attack you mean she plays rough.

But if she is clawing at the other cats then you may have a problem. Some cats, like many humans are simply hostile.

The best way to treat a hostile cat is a squirt bottle. Cats generally don't like being wet. Accompany this with a verbal warning.

As for stealing food and destroying the trash, try placing the trash in a container and putting the foods in cabinets. As for what is on the table, just teach her with the squirt bottle not to jump on the table.

I had one cat with exceptional intelligence, she stole food from cabinets, containers, bags... if its not locked she would figure out a way to get to it. She even tries to open doors by grabbing and trying to turn the door k**b. She attacked my gf as well. She loves to wrestle with people's hands. Claws and all. If I yell at her she turns her back to me and acts like I really hurt her feeling. Viloent, sensitive, spoiled cat. She was super needy and very very loud if she doesn't get her affection.

Then I had a cat that I can leave a open bag of cat food next to his food bowl and he will not touch it unless I place it in his bowl. He never jumps on the table.

I have a cat I can pull his tail, play with his ears, tickle his belly, pull on his legs etc... and he will never attack. Not even complain.

    Different cats, different personalities.

  10. Sounds like you have a regular active kitten to me. Tray and play with her more, keep the trash in a covered can or in the cupboard, put her in the other room when you are eating. Have the vet or a groomer show you how to trim her claws and if you must lock her out of your room when you are trying to sleep. A squirt gun or a pop can with pennies inside is a good way to startle her out of bad behavior. Every cat has a different personality she will probably grow out of most bad behaviors. Good luck with your new girl and don't tell her she's terrible she might begin to believe it :o)

  11. Exactly. Kittens are curious. They dont know whats right and whats wrong. What you can do to teach her is take a sqirt bottle and fill it with water. When she misbehaves spray her in the face ( i know it sounds mean but it works,) and say no strictly. Keep doing this when she acts up. Eventually she will get the picture that shes doing something wrong.
