  1. Awwww! he probably just is using it as a toy. Maybe try playing with him more and see if he still does it.

  2. Does he eat any of the dry foot? if not then he probably doesn't like it.

If he does then he's probably just being annoying! In his own playful way.

One of my cats is similar, he likes the dry food and when he's hungry he eats from the bowl but most of the time he likes to scoop it out and eat off the floor. I've even seen him furiously trying to lift his bowl up to find the one piece that went under it despite the bowl being freshly filled. Is it a little annoying having to constantly clean up the spilled food? sure. but it's just his way. I love watching my three cats with all their own funny little quirks. It's part of the fun.

  3. My cat doesn't like to eat out of deep bowls so I bought him shallow ones. Though he only get 1/2 of dry food per day to munch on + canned for meals instead of leaving him a big bowl all day long. I save that for when I go away for a few days and I have no one to look in on him.. but I have friends who goof about their cats playing with their dry kibbles too! Some are just like that...

  4. He doesn't want the dry food. Try mixing the foods together.

  5. He is trying to find the wet food at the bottom of the bowl.

  6. Some cats simply do not like to eat out of bowls. Putting their face down into a bowl may be uncomfortable or claustrophobic, especially if it has high sides.

This behavior could also just be your cats "style" of eating. (Some cats will take a mouthful of food, run into the other room, drop it, eat it there, go back to its bowl, and repeat).

Try putting your cat's food on a small plate, and see if that helps. You could also try mixing the 2 foods together.

If your cat isn't eating the dry food at all, it may be best to just discontinue offering it altogether. Depending on the brand, many dry cat foods are filled with corn, and do not offer the nutrition your pet needs. You may want to look into giving your cat suppliments, and/or look into giving your cat a partially raw diet.
