Why does my kitty knead at my stomach?

She'll do it, non-stop for about 10-15 minutes whenever we cuddle.

She purrs when she does it.

Kittens knead their mother's belly to stimulate milk flow. The kitten probably knows you're not her mommy, but it is a comforting motion for a cat and it's one way cats mark their territory, because there are scent glands in their paws. You should feel honored, though when my cat did it it got pretty annoying and painful. If you get tired of it, try putting a towel or blanket just in the area she's kneading and it'll serve as a cushion.

It's a comfort thing.  It's mostly done by cats who were taken away from their mother too soon.  The rescue kitten I'm caring for even does it when he drinks from the water dish.

I have an 8 week old kitten doing that to a 20 week old kitten right now and on my lap.  

The younger one was found at 5 weeks old and tries to knead and nurse on anyone who will let him, which is usually male cats since the one girl won't let him try (but will pin him down and clean him).  

It usually is kitties who left mom too early but that 20 week old will knead on me and he still lives with his mother, so it doesn't always mean they didn't get enough time with mom.  It is a comfort thing for them - not always for us since my 5 year old tends to wake me up many morning by kneading the back of my head.  But I do like to think that it means that they really trust me and value me, but I'm probably at least a bit deluded there.  :)

My kittens are about 3 months old and they STILL do that. LOL.

They just got fixed last Tuesday and they are doing it more now then earlier.

Sometimes they do it right before they go to sleep. Other times they do it because they want attention.

Mine do it when I cover up with this REALLY soft brown blanket. I guess they think it's like their mom. They always start 'sucking' on it and then they make bread for ever, then they fall asleep. :)

I have two kitties and they do mostly it means the want attention from you, sometimes it mean i want food, and other times it loves you.

Cats are awsome but they need alot of love and care, so when it come up to you try giving it a pet, put it on your, lap, or just call its nae to show that you still knows hes/shes there.

I recamend the first 2!
