  1. Is low on battery? If it's cordless.

  2. This would be common just after making a 3 way call, or having someone on call waiting. Other than that, the ring is generated by the phone company. Call your phone company repair service for help. (You could also try another phone on the line to see if it still happens. Or borrow one, if none on hand.) Some cordless phones can do this, if it is cordless..

  3. If it's a cordless, it's probably a phone error.

If you have call waiting, click over to take the other call, then hang up, the phone can ring back (even if no one's still there).

  4. Sssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhh!!   Be very careful - they're  out there and they're listening.........speak quietly and tip toe......

  5. If you have a release button or "hang up" button, try pressing that before hanging up the handset on the cradle.  Sometimes the handset jiggles when placed on the cradle causing a false hookswitch flash (like if you wanted to conference a third party into your call).  If you don't have a release button then just carefully replace the handset on the cradle.
