Question:

Why does my lawn grow in several different ways????

Lately ive noticed that my lawn grows all differently one far side gets longer quickly while the other takes a long time to grow and also my lawn grows in patches as if someone had just planted grass not squares but circles on my lawn it really pisses me off..lol so someone plz help?

  1. You probably have different kinds of grass growing.  For isntance if you get an invasion of creeping bentgrass you will have circles that look out of place in your yard because bentgrass must be mowed low otherwise it takes on a bad look when allowed to grow.  The thing to do would be to dig the patches out and replant them with the grass you want the entire yard to be.  


  2. It's either that there are different kinds of grasses planted all around your lawn or that it is fertilized more in some spots than in others or that more sun hits some spots than others.   OR, it can be all of the above.

    Rye grass, for instance, germinates very quickly but then it also continues to grow quickly, more quickly than many other grasses like Kentucky Blue Grass, for instance.

    Also you could have something that is called nut grass or quack grass and that comes up seasonally and you mostly can only get rid of it by pulling it up by hand.  It usually comes up around this time of the year and comes back each year.
