Why does my lcdhdtv have lines going down when i have the cable box off?

i turn off the box and i see lines moving down my screen whats this about. i dont see it with the box on

You are not getting a clean signal going through the cable box. Your TV should have the inputs for mire than one device and maybe you should hook up your antenna to the coax input and the cable box to the component cables? This should take care of the problem. Let me know how this works. Goo Luck!
