I have been running for 4 or 5 months now. the first couple months, I would always go out once a day, (in the evening) and at first I hated it, but after a couple months of doing it, I learned to love it.

Now, mostly every day I go out running in the morning, and at night but sometimes I only go out in the morning, or just in the night. For the longest time (since I started) I have been doing 1.24 miles. Then I think In June I started doing 1.53. There were some days where I was really off, and had to stop a couple times during my rin, while there were otheres (mainly at night) that I could do the whole thing without stopping.

My problem is, just a couple of weeks ago, I started to really increase my running to 2.8, and 2.22 miles. I run the whole time, which is normaly 20-25 minutes. but recently, when i finished, my lungs really hurt, and its almost like I start to wheeze, but i never really do. my breathing kind of feels shallow, but its not very dramatic. It doesnt affect me when I'm running, only after I have stopped. Is this just because I'm beginning to really push my body more than before? How would I get my lungs better? is there an exercize I can do at home?

  1. That's amazing to hear that you can run that because I have been running track at a Varsity level for my high school for a while and the most I can do is 400m. I probably could do a mile if I tried. But yea, back to you. Do you warm-up before you actually begin running? If you don't then that could explain why your lungs hurt. But the most probable reason they hurt is clearly because you just finished. Sounds weird but just listen[[or read on]]...if you ran at a super slow pace before or after reaching your goal, you are allowing your body to cool-down from an intense work-out. Allowing your body to cool-down lets all you vitals that you use to run cool-down also. So by time you stop they are working at a regular pace instead of pumping out of control. Just to stop running once you meet your goal doesn't mean your vitals are going to slow down that fast also. So your standing there with your heart and lungs feeling like they are going to explode out of your chest. Taking deep breaths through the nose and exhaling through the mouth will help a whole lot. Also try not to bend over once you are finished because you are cutting off airflow.

  2. its probably your body isn't use to it yet..so your out of shape...When you run your body creates its own pain killer, so you wouldn't feel it when you run, but as soon as you stop  your body stops making that pain killer and you start feel all the pain

  3. Same problem with me that's why I hate running too.

I've consulted a specialist and do some check before. For me, the specialist says that "70% is not heart problem". Well, I don't know what happen to the 30%.

  4. because your running too fast for your own fitness leavel or too long.. You need to start easy then work your way up as you work your way up your lungs will grow and and can get more oxygin.... If you start at a fitness leavel your not ready for your lungs will not be able to cope because your lungs are not big enough to get the required amount of oxygin..

    Good luck with your sporting.
