Or he'll just stand and pee somewhere where he shouldn't. I can't ever seem to catch him either. I end up discovering it later. He will do this on his bed too. It's so gross. I don't know how to break this. I'm becoming frustrated. HELP!!!!

  1. The problem with puppy pads are that they look and feel like other textiles in your home...inclduing carpet, linens, etc.  Thus, it may be difficult for him to tell the difference.  You can trick him by putting clean newspaper under his pad which will change the texture and smell to help him distinguish between where he should go (the pad) and shouldn't (carpet, bed, etc).  Make sure you reward him for using the pad as frequently as you can for the next few weeks!

  2. u need to use a kennel. Even small dogs need to be walked. If he goes on the carpet you need to take him to it when u find it and put his nose close enough so he can smell it is his and tell him no. Don't yell they scare so easily but just sound disappointed enough so he knows you're not happy. Small dogs have smaller organs like bladders. They can't hold it for more than 6 hours. If u insist on training it to go on pads in the house, Use peroxide to clean any spots he went to the bathroom to neutralize the odor so he doesn't recognize it as his potty. They sell a small bottle of elephant urine to help in potty training. Put a drop on a pad and put a pad over the spot/s your dog seems to always go. When he starts going on the pad, gradually move it a little each day toward the place you want it to permanently be.

  3. is your house all carpet? if so you have some work to do as what i did when i use to live in a apartment where it was all carpet. Get cleaning products that treats the spot and odor from your local pet store. they have spray kind and gel kind you name it. Most of them seem to work with me. Clean alll the possible spots and places where he went p**p and scrub and scrub. Your little pooch smells his own on the carpet where he went earlier and goes " oh this is where i went last time.. i should go again:  but ones you clean it up good his going to wonder around and not find " the place" he once went. Also try rubbing his pee on the pad so he goes on top of the pad. My dog didnt like the white pad in the beginning so i used layers and layers of newspaper and eventually changed it to the pad.  it takes time.. it truly takes time.. be patient and your pooch will learn sooner or later. good luck!
