Question:

Why does my memory card not work in my Nikon D50?

Nikon D50 works fine. I bought a new memory card; sandisk Extreme III. It's a 8 gig card, and when I use it in the camera, the camera displays a flashing "CHA" in the display window (the area that indicates the amount of photos available). What does that mean, and how can I use this card in my camera?

  1. Probably because the Nikon D50 will only use memory cards up to 2 GB.  At 4 GB and larger, the camera must recognize FAT 32 formatting.  Your camera uses SD memory cards.  It would have to use SDHC cards to use the higher capacity cards.
