Why does my mom's new BF think its amasing that me and my mom...?

Question

are very good at 's and renovations? i mean, were currently undergoing renovations in out living room and so far weve:

torn out carpet and underlay

scraped flooring adheie off floor

primed walls

and were currently in the middle of putting inunderlay (wwere getting REAL wood floors, also installing ourselves) and painting the walls. were also tearing down a wall and moving out staircae to go ustairs soon (we have a contractor [liscenced family friend] to help us with the stairs)

anyways, my moms new boyfriend is simply AMASED that were so good at this! i just dont get it, its the norm for me so i dont get it lol... does anyone else find this strange/amazing?

His experience has thought him that most women that he has known do not do renovations or building work. For the most part he is right, its got nothing to do with being a hard worker, or that fact that women can not do this work, just look at home makeover.

I have worked in the construction industry all my life and although there a women, there far and few. I have worked with female carpenters, plasterers, painters etc but there are more men that do this work then women.

haha i guess if its normal for you then u wouldnt find it that amazing. but thats A LOT of work which is probably why hes surprised. we do a lot of stuff to our house too so that seems like a lot for just u two to do. good job though! thats hard work!

Usually it's a family thing ...you learn from your parents how to do stuff,or at least how to read and follow directions.

And some people learn from their families that "girls don't do repairs" so they are flabbergasted when they encounter a woman who knows which end of a hammer to hit the nail with.

I think its great.  I wish I could do all of that.  He may think its amazing because of the way he was raised.  The women either didn't do that or didn't know how to do that.  Either way, praise yourself, because not all women can do it.

That is a lot of work and its not easy work either.

Most people don't know how to do this stuff, or simply think they can not.
