Why does my mom do this?

Question

Basically I moved out on August 1st. I'm the second oldest in my family and I've always been called the responsible one. Well my older brother never moved out, and he's 22 with a kid, but I'm about to be 19 and i decided it was time for me.

Well to make a long story short, every time i visit my old house right before I'm about to leave my mother is always in a bad mood. She doesn't talk to me, she wont look at me, and her goodbyes are merely a pitiful hug that you'd give somebody you don't like.

I don't understand. She'll email me that she misses me and wants me to come home to visit. So i do. and when i do she does that whole get mad thing.

Is it something I'm doing? or what? Please help!

I'm not a shrink of course, but it sounds as if mom is giving you the good ole guilt trip. Things are going good, then all of a sudden it's time to go, and mom goes into depression. Now, it could be real for her or this could be a poor pitiful me, hoping that you will feel guilty. One day, mom will understand that you have a life and get on with hers. If I am correct in this, then hug her, tell her you will call and good byes are hard for you too, but you love her. Good Luck

she's having a hard time dealing with you not being around. she prob feels lik she's losing you. when ur leaving,she feels lik ur betraying her. she'll prob grow out of it. i wouldn't worry about it so much if i were u for now, but def watch it, and if there's no change, then confront her, but for now, give her some time.

Looks like your mother hasn't accepted the fact that you have moved out. Give her some time. Perhaps talk to her about it. Let her open up and see what's wrong.

People deal with separation differently. She might feel that being mad at you will make it easier and maybe she wont miss you as much. Try not to take it personal and if anything just talk to her about it.
