Why does my my evanrude 70 keep blowing fuses?

  1. What? Fuses in the out board or on the fuse board in the boat?

    Maybe a short circuit, if not,Check the generator output,with a multimeter. Should be the same voltage as the equipment you are running +or- a couple of volts.


  2. something is not right  like maybe the fuse is to small for what your blowing

  3. your motor only has one fuse - the 20-amp fuse on the main wiring harness 12V supply.  Is that the one?

    the reason the fuse keeps blowing is that you have a dead short somewhere in that circuit.

    Does it blow when you turn the key "on", or when you turn it to "start"?  Could be the keyswitch, the solenoid could theoretically short out internally (I never saw it happen), anywhere where the red/purple or yellow/red wires could get chafed, loose insulation and come in contact with a ground wire.
