When she really can? I'm teaching her how to write and when she messes up she just says " i can't do it". All i say is "just keep trying" but all she says is "im just a little girl". Why is she like this?

  1. How old is she?  If she's school age, she needs to be writing.  Just encourage her to keep at it and DO HER BEST.  That's all she can do.  But be patient.  She can probably get frustrating, but that's a little kid for ya' lol:)  And she probably doesn't have a lot of confidence.  Tell her she's smart and can do it.

  2. Is she overly protected? I believe it is the empowerment of a child that builds the believe system about themselves.

I have a 3 1/2 year old son who use to call for help from time to time even with things he is accustom to. What I do is to build his belief system in himself that he can do it just as he has overcome other obstacles he has faced. By and by as he gets his confidence built up he is more receptive to taking on new task & challenges.

Incidentally how old is your niece? It is alright if she is a young toddler like mine as their hand muscles for writting and coloring may not be that strong yet. You can help them build their muscles with some kneadling excercise e.g. playdool or even baking. But I guees the most important thing is to empower her & help her build her confidence in herself.

  3. my daughter is like that, i taught her how to read and when she comes to word she doesnt know she i cant read, then i was teaching her how to skate she says i cant do it.  just keep reassuring her that she can do it.. all it takes is practice...my daughter was so happy when she was finally able to skate which only took a day for her to really get it now she is a pro.

  4. Just keep saying "Yes, you can!" "I think you can." and if she says she's a little girl just say "I think you're a big girl."

  5. My daughter is almost 2 years and she keeps saying no for almost everything like if say lets counting even she knows counting up to 10 but she says "no". She can recognize all alphabets but when i ask sometimes she says 'no' 'i can't'.  Just ignore at that time when she says no and another time when she is in good mood say ' you are good girl  or you r a big girl don't say 'no'. It works for my daughter sometimes, may be will help you.

  6. i get that from my son sometimes.  the "i can't do it" probably means "i'm too tired/ i don't feel like it/i don't want to do it/i'm bored!"
