Why does my old cds sound better than my new cds?

I have a 2002 Grand Prix with a pretty good sound system and I was listening to an old cd yesterday and it was really clear. It sounded better than my new cds. Why is that?

if your new cd's are burned and the old one are boughten, that could be why. the only thing i can think of is the burn/file quality.
