Why does my pc show an icon which says my mobile phone is connected when it clearly isnt?

I havent connected my phone since last week and yesterday when I put my pc on there were 2 icons. One which says there is no phone connected in and the other which says there is a phone connected. I just clicked on it and it said -safe to disconnect device. And it happened today as well.

Yes I disconnected it properly last week.

Maybe it's formed a Blue Tooth, or Infra Red connection, without asking your permission, or a neighbour or hacker has accessed your PC for diverse purposes, it wouldn't show a connection unless one had been made!

Before you un-plug you're Mobile from you're PC you need to click the icon at the bottom of you're Taskbar so you can safely take out the device.

It usually says something like: You can now remove you're device from you're PC in a pop-up Bubble .

This applies to most removable storage items like Pen Drives etc etc.
