Why does my phone have static when i'm on the computer?

i have dsl. if i unplug the dsl, the static disappears.

  1. Had that problem last year...fixed by installing a dedicated outlet for my computer.  The phone and computer were off the same outlet...not so good.  That outlet fixed the problem right up.


  2. Bellsouth and ATT have filters that you install on the phoneline at the wall jack.  They eliminate the static.  You should have one at the computer and one at each telephone extension.  If you're paying bellsouth or ATT for service, they should provide them free of charge.

  3. Either you don't have filters on your phones.  Or the filters aren't working properly.

  4. Cause they're sharing the same phone lines and the DSL is creating a lot of noise with it's speed transfers.  When I got my DSL modem, they sent along 2 or 3 phone adaptors for 2 or 3 additional phones just to avoid getting that static on the phone and part of the instructions was "now, plug in an adaptor on each of the phones in your home; you'll be able to do 2 phone in addition to this one."
