Why does my picture disappear when I try to upload to my profile?

My picture is a typical head shot (shoulders and head) portrait of me. It is in no way "adult" or pornographic in nature.

Every time I upload it and select the use this picture option, it shows only while I am in edit picture, then goes away. If I select it, say to use it, then go back and it is selected then select close, same thing.

1.The picture is either too large

2.maybe you need to change the format of picture to .JPG

3.if neither of those work then it's a yahoo glitch
