  1. maybe its playing dead

  2. Well, he's alive...so don't flush him. + flushing him could cause diseases to spread to native fish species, so if he dies, put him in a plastic bag and throw him in the trash. How old is the pleco, what type is it, a common? How big of a tank is it in? Any other symptoms?

Oekaki, I agree with you, but sometimes it is the best thing to euthanize. I hate to hear of people killing for no reason, but if there is nothing left to do then sometimes euthanasia is the best option then letting them suffer until they die.=(

  3. If your fish is sick, please don't flush it down the toilet.  There are chemicals in toilet water that burn a fish's gills and make it a very painful death.  If you are going to murder your fish, please do it in a painless way.  Or just medicate your fish to get it healthy again.   I'm very anti-euthanasia, so I hate to hear of anyone killing their pet.

If your pleco is stuck at the top of the water, it could have swim bladder problems.  Try feeding it a mashed up pea.  Or if you don't want your fish anymore, take it back to the pet store where you got it from.  They'll take it off your hands free of charge and then no one has to die.

Much nicer, yes?  Try taking it back to the store where you got it.  It's still alive!
