Why does my rabbbit do this?

I love my new rabbit, but there's still many questions as she is my first ever pet rabbit. She picks up her bowl, tosses it around, moves it here and there, and dumps the food out. I gave her a little food wheel, but broke off the food once it got down to just a few bites, and she tossed the food out of the cage. She's so cute, but why does she do this?

She probably does it for fun and/or she doesn't like the food?! Probably just for fun thought as some of mine do it and they LOVE their mix! Hope this helps?!

Rabbits are very playful animals, and play with anything they have, especially their food bowl. My rabbits used to do that, but they've got used to it now. Now and agin you see the bowl out in the run!

Yes, rabbits are playful, so give her a toilet paper tube, or a plastic toy from the pet shop. she'll enjoy that and hopefully fingers crossed swhe will stop playing with her bowl and adapt to her new toys :) good luck.

I had a rabbit that did things like that.

I think it's just their way of organizing their space.  I don't think she really intends to throw it away but to just move it.  Maybe she thinks its fun.  My horse does things like that for fun too.

It really varies from rabbit to rabbit, but some rabbits like to do that and others won't.  I just think they like to play with it.  But keep in mind, even if you put in toys your rabbit will probably still want to tip it.

Recommendation:

Either get a heavier food dish or get a holder for your food bowl.  I tend to prefer the J-Feeders that go through the cage and latch on to the side of the cage.  You have to cut a hole in the wire, but they seem to be the best feeders.  They sift the fines out, they can't be tipped over, and you don't even have to open the cage door to put the feed in.  Fine-X makes the best J-Feeders I think.
