  1. Rabbits are induced ovulators and do not have an actual heat cycle.

They do of course have hormones and fluctuations in the hormones due other factors besides a heat cycle are common.

Smaller rabbit breeds tend to sexually mature at 3-4 months. Medium breeds at 5-6 months and larger breeds can take up to 8 months to reach sexual maturity.

  2. Assuming you mean hormonal she would be hormonal because it's part of nature and just how the body works. I don't know too much about rabbits in particular but 6 months sounds a bit early to become hormonal. It could be normal or she could just be an early bloomer.

If you know from expirience that 6 months is abnormal and are concerned take her to the vets.

If you don't want her to be so hormonal then go get her spayed.

Most pets are less likely to run away once they are spayed so it would be a good idea unless you want kittens (baby rabbits).

    Hope this helps out =]

  3. You have answered your own question. :-)

Female rabbits are affected by hormones like all female mammals are. At 6 months she has reached sexual maturity. Hence you may notice increased aggression, nesting behaviour etc.

Spaying will help with these issues. It is also the best way to safeguard her health - the most common cause of early death in female rabbits is uterine cancer, which is completely prevented by spaying.

  4. I have read that at 6 months is when an animal starts to mature, so she is probably in an early heat and since she is not spayed she wants to mate. I would suggest keeping her in her cage away from any males, and possibly asking a vet if you could spay her, unless you want her to breed later. But it will pass over in a few days.
