Question:

Why does my rabbit keep on making such a mess?

My rabbit has a hutch with a little bit upstairs (like a house) where his food and bedding are (newspaper, woodchip & straw). We clean out the hutch twice a week but he always shreds the newspaper and brings all the bedding from upstairs down. I really want to know why he keeps doing this and if anyone has any ideas to make him stop. thanks =]

  1. my rabbit does this also, but i notice its only when i don't put him outside, or if he is in there too long, he gets bored and just uses that as a boredom breaker. maybe try putting a lot of things in there for him to chew, and some newspaper that he can shred already without digging up all the sawdust or whatever bedding it is you use. this way it should save you from having to keep tidying up so often, you just have to keep replacing the newspaper he has shredded. or even just limit the amount of time he spends in his hutch, except at night of course.

  2. I have an indoor rabbit and she also shredpaper or brings it to one side and just goes to the bathroom on the bare cage, which makes it really hard to clean. So I think it's just normal they have fun doing it maybe try to get it some type of toys.

  3. well rabbits are very dirty animals so every time you see the mess, clean it up and keep doing it, then ur rabbit will realize that its so boring and she will stop doing it
