Why does my refrigerator blow a fuse every time I plug it in?

The plug in I use for my cooler has a switch that blows if there's a problem with whatever gets plugged in. I used the cooler for a year and a half or so and now it's quit working, and every time I plug it in it it blows the switch on the plug in. Is there something I can check myself on the cooler that might be the problem? I looked for loose wires where the plug goes in to no avail. Could it be too wet inside? What should I look for. By the way, I bought it used, but it did have a new compressor. It's a True model.

Thanks!

  1. Buy a new refrigerator and trash the old one.  It's seen better days and it would be too costly to repair a second time.

  2. Something is causing refrigerator to draw too much power.  What that is could be many things from a bad compressor to a grounded wire.  If you bought it used and did not pay a lot for it then the cost of repair is likely going to be more than it is worth.
