It's a GE Profile series, freezer on top, frig. below. I've checked the drip tray, etc., and all looks fine. It doesn't do it all the time, just every now and then. I plan on installing laminate flooring in the kitchen, and I have to solve the water problem first. THANKS!!!

  1. Check and see if you have water under the crispers now or when you find water on floor. If it does the drain from freezer is probably blocked with food particles or algae. It should be in the top back on inside of refrigerator section.Probably has a cover over it and they usually are a cup with a spout that goes out the back wall. Some have screws some just pull out.I have seen this a lot but I don't know about this particular model.HOPE THIS HELPS.

  2. leaky ice maker hose?, condensation not running into the pan?

  3. If it's a self defrosting model, the water is supposed to be collected into a trough at the back of the fridge when it defrosts. This trough in turn drains into a tray which sits on top of the motor. The water flows from the trough into a tray through a little hole at the lowest point of the trough.

Look inside your fridge, if you can see the trough look for the hole. Push a cotton bud gently into and out of the hole a couple of times. this will dislodge the fungus (mould) that is probably blocking the hole. The water is evaporated from the tray by the heat of the motor.

You will have to do this once or twice a year to prevent the hole getting blocked again.

It may be that your fridge is producing too much frosting on the cooling element. Check the door seal and make sure that the contents of your fridge isn't touching the cooling element at the back of the fridge.

  4. You may have an intermittent magnetic door seal leak or someone not closing the door(s) completely. This will cause the room air to enter the refrigerator, especially the freezer which will form frost. When the defroster kicks in, you get a lot more condensation than normal.. Also does the water leak happen especially on very humid days? Make sure the refrigerator is tilted back slightly. Also check the magnetic seals and make sure there are no cracks and the magnet is still strong to hold the doors airtight.
