Why does my rose of sharon drop its blossoms?

Sometimes the plant looses blossoms before they open, and I don't know what the problem is.

Its not unusal for that to happen. Rose of sharon will always do this no matter what-however two things can help reduce this problem.  The easiest thing is to simply water the ground around the tree with a spray hose for about 10 minutes a day over a few days during dry hot weather spells.

  

   The other thing is spreading rock phosphate around the tree roots. Rock phosphate is a natural fertilizer that is available at quality nurseries. You can spread about 2 cups per yard of plant height. The rose of sharon will use as much as it needs because its a natural organic source and unlike fertilizers its almost impossible to over use this fertilizer. You only need to do this once a year. If the trees are on a slope you may want to do it two or three times a year and use a heavy garden rake to help it get to the roots by gentley raking it into the upper layer of soil.

All flowering plants rely on naturally available phosphate in the soil when phosphate gets depleted it effects the health of flowers, the number of flowers,  and also the size of fruit in fruit bearing trees and plants.

  I recommend this natural alternative to all gardeners because it has minimal impact on the environment and water treatment facilities unlike commercial fertilizers which have long and disasterous effects on streams and water treatment facilities as well as water wells.

One 40 pound bag of rock phosphate goes a very long way and you can add this fertilizer to regular garden plants like tomatoes and have larger and more abundant tomatoes! Remember this is natural and your trees and plants will only use the right amount they need and it will last an entire season! Btw. I had one bag of rock phosphate last me over 10 years because its a very fine powder and you only need to use small amounts. Good Luck!
