Question:

Why does my shower leak after I'm done showering?

My shower leaks after I shut the water off...I put a towel near where the water leaks. It stays dry during the shower and a few hours later, the towel is saturated. Has anyone ever had this problem. The faucets are not leaking and the drain is not clogged. It's a mystery to me and I can't start repairing it unless I can figure out the problem....HELP!

  1. It could be that the shower base or liner has a break, causing water leak. A shower pan test will show if the base has a leak. That involves plugging the drain and filling shower to threshold, then with time limit usually 15 min, see if the water level drops. Also I would check inside the shower for any cracks in the wall i.e. tile any seams, flashlight helps. Water only needs a hairline crack to flow through.

The leak sounds more  after fixture related, otherwise the area would constantly be wet.
