  1. In Defense for protection, To keep warm, eating, just to have a sleep there are many reasons all of which are natural to the snake....its just being a snake! hope this helps!!!

  2. No all snakes coil.  No matter what snake.  It could be hiding afraid or just keeping warm.

  3. most snakes coil, i guess it just makes them feel more secure, that way they no none of their body parts are hanging out in the open for a predator to see.

  4. Every single snake in the entire world coils up. It is for many reasons but primarily for security. When coiled, no part of its body is too far away from its mouth (its weapon) therefore he feels secure. Also, if something is far away, he can reach and bite the predator or prey because his coil creates slack similar to a coiled rope.
